Jerry was using our new HP series multi stage design Split Dominators. Although this design is still in its infancy it has shown itself to be a true performer in only its second event entered.
The IHRA World Record now stands at 6.608 and Jerry says the car accelerated so fast through the first couple of gears he missed the shift and claims there’s more left in it. How much more, only time will tell. On an even better note, with the demise of the Stu Evans racing team we were looking for a new test team and Jerry has signed on to do this further development (as this technology goes directly to our other designs).
Like Jerry says “The Mountain Motors are an excellent test bed due to their higher power levels they’ll show you immediately if a concept is good or bad”.
Company President Patrick James states: “Jerry is known for his incredible tuning ability so I was excited when he said he would test for us and give us total access to his dyno and tuning program. Jerry and I have already had some long dyno sessions working on and developing different theories as pertaining to acceleration and fuel burn. We built him a couple of different sets of carburetors with two completely different theories applied. Both look promising. The first design has the E.T. record, the second design is focused toward the mph record. Two different concepts that maybe at a later date can be blended together. We’ll see. This is Pro Stock after all, its not a kids game and its tough. I’ve been humbled by it before and I’m sure it’ll happen again”.
The NMCA event in Memphis was also a pleasant surprise as we scored wins in EZ Street, Hot Street Real Street and Pro-Street.
In Pro-Street: Tony Christian continued his winning ways taking out a tough Bob Rieger in the final. Tony uses our Nitrous Pro-IV large bore Dominators to feed his beautiful ’57 Chevy.
In Hot Street: Tony Bischoff scored the win over a redlighting Tim Davis. But number one qualifier Jamie Gelting with his Glidden powered Calais found another way to lose on raceday as his bad luck continues. Stay at it Jamie the bad luck’s gotta run out soon. We’re cheering for ya’.
In EZ Street: Gary Rohe continued his dominating ways with his BES powerplant. Gary once again scoring a number one qualifying position and putting it all together on raceday. He still has “out of the box” jetting in his carburetor. Good job Gary, now lets see if there’s more in that program.
In Real Street: Dan Paolini did it again, also in a big way. Nailing the number one qualifying position and getting the win on raceday against another one of our customers Bruce Lagory.
In the NHRA: Robert Patrick debuted his long awaited Mustang at the new Las Vegas facility. Qualifying in the number 10 slot is a great achievement for an independent and the Sonny’s power plant is certainly showing its stuff, if you’ll check the mph numbers that car has some excellent potential. Robert uses a set of very custom built Dominators that we actually built two years ago and they’re still the fastest set of carburetors he’s ever owned or tested. That’s saying a lot in NHRA Pro Stock. Company President Patrick James stated: “We had never built a set of NHRA carbs before they called us, we had a week to build a set from scratch. We were happy with that design from the start so I’m glad to see it go down the track like our wet-flow system said it would. That was the biggest sigh of relief I think I ever expelled”. Whew.
Great job everyone. WOW! That’s a good weekend.
